One of the things we did was rent a jeep and toured the east side of the island. There are some interesting bars, bring your camera the scenery is awesome. Pretty to look at but the water has surf, riptides and you need to be careful to stay close to the shore.
Go to Chankanaab National Park and swim with the dolphins or just go and snorkel.
In some of the smaller shops the Mexicans expect you to bargain with them.
Take a ferry to Playa Del Carmen.
You can use your dollars in Cozumel. No need to change to pesos. About 10 pesos =1 dollar.
If you take a cab always ask how much the fare is. (dollars or pesos) Taxi prices are very reasonable.
Enjoy your trip.Have you ever been to Cozumel (Mexico) for your holidays? What is it like? Any tips/advice?

YES! Cozumel is great! I stayed on the south end and loved it. Here is a great web site for interested travelers. www.mycozumel.com. it is a forum which is very informational. Have fun!
I hope it hasn't changed too much since it just got hit by a hurricane a few days ago. We made a stop there on our cruise. The water was very clear blue. The kids and my husband snorkeled. The fish were so beautifully coloured. Snorkel at the National Park. It is inexpensive to rent the equipment and it's not crowded. There are lots of shops around with peddlers trying to sell inexpensive beaded jewelry. There are some nice shops that sell interesting souvenirs. Make sure you buy some margaritas. Be careful though, they make them strong! Watch out for the traffic if you try to cross the street. I hope I was imagining that they were trying to run us down. There are taxis everywhere to get you where you need to go. The drivers are a good source of info. Have a great time!!!
