Need advice on MP3 player or iPod. Can you help?

My husband and I would like to buy our 11 year old one or the other for Christmas, but have no clue where to start.(I'm not efen real sure of the difference between the two) We do not want the top of the line as she is only 11, but we would like for her to have some room for growth. We are on a budget as well, What are the best interms of value and quality that are user-friendly as well.Need advice on MP3 player or iPod. Can you help?
For bang for your buck for an 11 year old, I'd avoid the IPod for now, and just get a flash based MP3 Player. Just pick your budget and ship around, Wallmart even has some good deals on them now. 1-2GB storage is more then enough for a day's music, and quite a few also come with FM Radio %26amp; recording built in. If you looking for unique you can also check out the Mobi Cube

I would always suggest an i pod. They invented this format and your 11 year old son will get 5 stars in the street cred stakes when he has that white earphones on etc. There are many different qualities of mp3 players on the market but the i pod is THE ONE .Go on to ebay and search for details on new and second hand ones dependant on how much your budget is.

Your son will love the i pod and it is worth every penny. He will understand the benefit of having an i pod.
I would look at the Sandisk Sansa line. I just purchased the Sansa E200 Series for my 13 year old son.

Not only does it play music it also will play video, has a picture viewer, voice recorder, and FM Radio built in. You can even record directly from the FM Radio to the mp3 player.
look at pawn shop. or online stores also have good deals and don't forget ebay
an ipod is just a fancy mp3 player, both play mp3 format audio files, but there are some differences, one of the differences between the two is obviously the price, but with apple making small units like the nano that is not even that big of a difference anymore. She is 11 years old, I'm assuming she doesn't need 10 thousand songs in her unit, if she does I would recomend the 20gb ipod and bigger, if she doesn't then a small 1gb ipod or mp3 player would be enough. New ipods play video and display pictures, regular mp3 players don't. regular mp3 players give you access to the actual song files wich means you can transfer them between computers ipods just play the files. But each individual unit has its own unique feature. for an 11 year old girl I'd recomend, the ipod shuffle, the ipod nano, or an mp3 player with at least 500 megabites of memory.
