What is the best advice you can give to someone studying for a Ph.D. in History?

Start writing at the beginning of your PhD don't leave it until the end. Use referencing software like endnote to make writing and storing your references easier. If you hit a lull and think you can't carry on (and you will, everyone does!) just remember a PhD is a test of perseverance, you will get out of the lull and have more great ideas.
